BENYLIN FREEZER POPS
For sick children only!
Yummmm... a delicious frozen treat. Sorry! Only for children
with a cold or the flu.
Open wide!
Do your kids hate the taste of cough syrup? You'll be
pleased to know that medicine now comes in many different
forms along with the traditional syrup or pills. Introducing
cough medicine in a Freezer Pop. We bet they'll
be delighted to take their medicine!
Tough to freeze
Researchers at Pfizer Canada first had to find a way to
quickly freeze the ingredients, including the bitter dextromethorphan
hydrobromide, while maintaining a pleasant taste and texture.
The medicine is more diluted than in the syrup, but each
Freezer Pop equals exactly one teaspoon of cough syrup.
Other non-medicinal ingredients were added to create orange
and grape flavours.
Patience, patience, patience.
Before a new drug can make its way to drugstore shelves,
it has to go through a stringent approval process. Parents
want children's medicine to be tamper-proof, so Pfizer
researchers called on a highly regarded manufacturer to
ensure that the plastic wrapper is sturdy enough that
it can't be opened too easily.
Thanks!
The Freezer Pop samples were donated by Pfizer Canada.
