Montréal, September 28, 2004 - By popular
demand, the Montréal Science Centre IMAX® Theatre,
at the Old Port, will be celebrating Halloween and the
holiday season by bringing back two original, entertaining
and magical productions, starting with The Haunted
Castle 3D on October 1. Then, from November 1,
2004 to January 9, 2005, young and old will be mesmerized
by the great encounter of Santa Claus VS. the Snowman
3D.
The Haunted Castle marks a bold departure
from traditional filmmaking by unfolding almost entirely
from Johnny's point-of-view, in the first-person, which
literally puts the audience in the middle of the action.
The film's fantastic look was achieved through its nearly
forty minutes of cutting-edge computer graphics animation.
The combination of spectacular animation with jaw-dropping,
stereoscopic 3D makes Haunted Castle the
ultimate giant screen experience to date. Rated G (General),
The Haunted Castle is nevertheless reserved
for an informed audience and its style, resembling that
of a rock opera, should be particularly appealing to teenagers.
It was everyone's favourite, and the hit of the holiday
season! Starting November 1, 2004 Santa VS. the
Snowman 3D, the first animated Christmas movie
in 3D, is unlike any of the traditional films of its kind.
Uniting the unique properties of 3D technology to the
characteristics of computer-generated digital imagery,
it creates breath-taking images projected on a giant screen
28 metres wide and 22 metres tall which are then enhanced
with 12,000 watts of uncompressed digital sound. The 3D
technology allows the spectator to completely immerse
himself in this zany adventure which takes place in Santa's
workshop, up in the North Pole where children of all ages
will literally feel as though they are part of the action.
To really get in the mood of the holiday season, this
is the film to see, again and again.
